RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS

A POEM

I am different and so are you
But that’s no reason to be cruel
Why are humans filled with hate
That only helps creating pain
I lost myself without a trace
I’ve been stolen and sold away
Changed for money, treated with rage
Trying to hide my face, locked in a cage
Working all day, beaten all night
Feeling hopeless and wanting to die
I look around, all that I can see
Children screaming, wishing they were free
There’re so many kids like me in here
And it’s hard to see them holding their tears
This is no life for children like us
We should be playing, going to school on a bus
I think about my family and I wish upon a star
That they are doing well and I hope they’re not so far
Cause I still believe that one day they’ll find me
And I’ll be safe and sound with love around me
That’s the only thing that keeps me from breaking
The only reason to smile, a feeling I’m not faking
But then I see what’s real and I’m afraid of tomorrow
Cause everything I can feel Is only pain and sorrow
Cause I can’t go another day locked In this cage
Looking at the sky and slowly losing my name.
